We pride ourselves on using the best and most innovative technologies and materials in the construction of our work boots. On this page are the explanations of the technologies currently used in making shoes and boots.

ASTM Related Technologies

Steel Toe - Footwear that meets or exceeds the ASTM Standards for compression and impact testing rating of ASTM F2413-18.
Composite Toe - A Non-Metallic Safety Toe for environments where steel is not appropriate. Reduced cold-transfer in cooler environments and meets the ASTM Standards for compression and impact testing rating of ASTM F2413-18.
Aluminum Toe - Weighs less than steel and meets the ASTM Standards for compression and impact testing rating of ASTM F2413-18.
Carbon Composite Fiber Toe - A Non-Metallic Safety Toe option. Carbon fiber weave reduces toe cap weight while maintaining strength to meet the ASTM Standards for compression and impact testing rating of ASTM F2413-18.
Electrostatic Dissipative - Footwear absorbs and neutralizes loose electrons, sending charges into the floor. This footwear meets SD static-dissipative ASTM F2413-18 safety standards.
Electrical Hazard - Footwear tested by an independent lab that can withstand applications of 18,000 volts at 60hz for one minute without leakage.
Metguard - Internal MetGuards provide flexible protections and increased comfort. In addition, External Metguards are also available on select Carolina styles. Meets ASTM F2413-18 Class Mt75 metatarsal impact-resistance safety standards.
Puncture Resisting - Meets all current ANSI requirements for safety toe standards, Class 75.
Berry Amendment Compliant - Berry Amendment Compliant (USC, Title 10, Section 2533a) certifies that this product is contracted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is manufactured in the United States with 100 percent U.S. inputs and materials.

Added Benefit Technologies

Slip Resisting - Soles designed and constructed with materials to meet the standard for slip resistance.
Steel Shank - A thin piece of metal built between the insole and outsole of the boot that helps provide stability, structure and support.
Non-Metallic Shank - A composite alternative to a steel shank, with the stability, structure and support you need. Ideal for worksites with metal detectors at access points so you can work without repeatedly setting off the metal detector.
Insulated - Footwear that provides varying levels of protection against the cold depending on the amount of insulating fabric used.
Kevlar Stitching - The strength of Kevlar® thread provides flame and heat resistance.
Soft Toe - Boots that are made without safety toe components.
Made in the USA with Global Parts - Footwear manufactured in our Martinsburg, PA facility.
Union Made - Made with pride by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776 Keystone State in our Martinsburg, Pennsylvania factory.

Waterproof Scubaliner™ - Carolina’s Exclusive Proprietary Waterproof Lining System
Goodyear - The NEWEST outsole technology. Goodyear biopolymer soling compounds were created to adapt to low temperatures and enhance performance in wet and cold conditions. D3O® Met Guard - The D3O ® featured in Carolina boots are engineered for advanced foot protection against impacts, while remaining soft and flexible for all day comfort in extreme conditions. When integrated into a boot correctly, D3O® Metguards pass both EN and ASTM industry metatarsal protection standards.
Overtime Comfort Footbed - Our premium dual-density foam footbed. A thick polyurethane foam undercarriage molded for support is combined with a memory foam top layer that contours to your anatomy. It’s a new comfort footbed that’s sure to keep you working around the clock.
Workflex - This ultra-strong outsole is designed to resist abrasion for longer wear.
Pillow Cushion™ 1 Footbed - A layer of memory foam that wraps the foot in comfort. Combined with existing insole systems, it offers the ultimate in cushioned comfort.
Plantilla Pillow Cushion™ 2 - Footwear cushioning designed to provide maximum anatomical support and comfort with an internal polyurethane midsole that cradles a dual-density memory foam footbed.
Vibram® - The Vibram® brand is recognized for its high performance soling products used in rugged, outdoor and service footwear. 3M Thinsulate™ - Thinsulate™ uses microfibers that trap dead air but do not absorb water, helping to keep feet warm even in damp conditions. Thinsulate™ is a trademark of 3M.
Poron® Performance Insole - Versatile, shock absorbing material that’s manufactured for the toughest daily wear.
AG7™ Footbed - Supreme quality polyurethane comfort system with enhanced arch support.
AG8™ Footbed - An update to our AG7 Footbed. Supreme quality dual density polyurethane comfort system with enhanced arch support.
Matterhorn TigerTip® - A high-abrasion boot tip provides superior protection and extends the life of the boot.
Military Approved - Footwear that is approved for wear by the U.S. Military.
XRD® Extreme Impact Protection - XRD® Extreme Impact Protection combines the latest materials science with ultimate design capabilities. Soft and flexible to the touch, yet tough on impact – XRD Technology is a lightweight, thin and breathable material that’s engineered for repeated impact and shock absorption. XRD is a licensed trademark of Rogers Corporation.
Intellisphere Footbed - New removable insert with dual-density cushioning.
Aerogrip - Carolina’s patent-pending Aerogrip tread is forged into a premium compound of slip-resistant, oil resistant rubber that scores world class ratings for friction and grip when tested under extreme conditions.
Align™ Footbed - An orthotic insole that helps place the foot in a more optimum position to assist with proper alignment, stability and support.
Kryptek - Specially designed for those geographical regions and elevations that are varied. Kryptek Highlander™ increases stealth when pursuing a wide range of quarry in mixed terrain.
PU+MEM Insert - A removable PU footbed insert covered in Memory Foam with an improved heel cup for added comfort.
EVA+MEM Insert - A removable EVA footbed insert covered in Memory Foam with an improved heel cup for added comfort.
Triple Tuff - A removable comfort footbed.
Cordura® - Cordura stands for durability. Cordura is 2 x more durable than standard nylon, 3 x more durable than polyester, and 10 x more durable than cotton duck. Perfect for performance footwear, this high-tenacity, 1200 denier nylon results in some of the most incredibly durable, yet lightweight boots anywhere.
